The canned goods, spices and herbs you’ve purchased do have a shelf life, so it’s really smart to incorporate them into your home menu soon.

  • Canned food: Think of your canned goods as multipurpose ingredients. Beans, for example, can be used in a dip, stew or salad, among other recipes. You can research ways to change things up on Easy Meals, as well.
  • Spices and herbs: They usually have a shelf life of six months to one year. Do a smell test to make sure they are pungent like they should be. If they are good to go, try creating a house blend for scrambled eggs, chicken rubs, salads or marinades.
